Accreditation for Education

Southeast’s College of Education successfully completed accreditation visits with teams at both the state and national levels last fall.

Teams from both the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) were on campus to review the College of Education as a unit as well as each of its program offerings.

The NCATE team has recommended re-accreditation on all six standards for both initial and advanced teacher preparation programs. The DESE team has recommended all 27 initial teacher preparation programs and all 10 advanced teacher preparation programs be re-accredited.

“We plan to incorporate the recommendations from both teams into our practice of continuous improvement as we prepare and sustain leaders in teaching, counseling, and educational leadership,” College of Education Dean Margaret Noe says.
