A Note from the Dean

A Note from the Dean

Dr. Brad Deken, Interim Dean of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

I could not be more pleased to be dean of the new College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. I think what unites our college is a sense of curiosity about how things work and how we can take that knowledge and make improvements. A lot of us are motivated to figure out more about the world. Fortunately, we have lots of great opportunities for experiential learning to help accomplish this. We have some excellent facilities on- and off-campus that allow students to try things out. I’m hopeful the reorganization will give us a new sense of purpose and a drive to do more within and outside our University community. Among all the challenges we constantly hear about, there are also lots of amazing opportunities. I’m ready for us to address those challenges and then focus on and take advantage of the opportunities. Fortunately, we have a highly talented faculty and staff in this college and alumni who have graduated from our program who will make a positive impact on STEM in our region and beyond.
