At Southeast, We Make.

More than 500 artists study art, dance, music, and theatre at the River Campus each day. The facility provides complete modern and professional studios, stages, and classrooms to each of the disciplines except for art. When the River Campus opened in 2007 and additions were made in 2014, the sculpture and ceramics classrooms were not included in the new facilities originally due to costs and then later because of ventilation restrictions in conjunction with the construction of the residence hall.

Art students still must split their time between the River Campus and classrooms and facilities on the main campus and throughout Cape Girardeau. For these students, the energy of living and learning at the River Campus is missing.

Southeast is working towards a goal to create a new 20,000-square-foot facility to complete the River Campus and finally succeed in providing all arts courses on one campus. The facility will allow Southeast to fully embrace students and their pursuit of art.

Statewide funding for higher education continues to decrease, so major expansions simply are not possible without the partnership of our patrons.

We need your help to ensure the River Campus remains the place for budding artists, art lovers, and art collectors, because at Southeast, we make. Make a community. Make a commitment. Make a difference. To help us expand our facilities, serve our students and keep our programs competitive, visit semo.edu/give.
