Fraternities

Several Southeast fraternities received national recognition this summer during their national conferences. Pi Kappa Alpha was recognized with the “Alumni Advisory Board of the Year” honor; Sigma Chi was awarded the Peterson Cup; Lambda Chi Alpha earned the Grand High Alpha Award; Phi Delta Theta was honored with the national Founder’s Trophy; and Sigma Nu earned awards for both Pursuit of Excellence in Values-Based Leadership and Pursuit of Excellence for Operational Excellence.

Student Government

Student Government introduced a new position to the Executive Board this year called the Diversity and Inclusion (D.I.) chair. The purpose of the position is to encourage students to have conversations with one another to break barriers while building bridges in Southeast’s diverse community. The D.I. chair is responsible for hosting programs and initiatives to bring awareness and education to the University.

At the 2019 American Advertising Awards Show, Southeast’s Student Advertising Agency, SECreative, walked away with three awards, including two gold Addys and Best of Show in the student competition. The students in the award-winning organization have worked with many local businesses in the Cape Girardeau area, including Mississippi Mutts, The Corner Store, SEMO Craft Beer Week, and Southeast’s very own Department of Music.
