A College Degree in High School

Southeast Missouri State announced this spring a new program that would see members of the Cape Girardeau Public Schools’ Class of 2020 get a jump-start on college. With the new Early College Program, they can pursue an Associate of Arts or the CORE 42 statewide general education curriculum while still in high school. The agreement being piloted this year paves the way for select juniors at Cape Girardeau Public Schools to spend their junior and senior years of high school in the program at the Cape College Center. Southeast Students Conduct Research in "Polar Bear Capital of the World"

A team of biology students and faculty have traveled to Churchill, Manitoba, annually to study and see first-hand the effects of climate change. In 2017, the goal of the course was for students to study wood frog reproduction from designated ponds while staying at the Churchill Northern Study Centre. From there, they observed and maintained the egg masses in a controlled temperature lab until they hatched. Missouri's First Drone Program

When Southeast launched its bachelor’s degree in unmanned aircraft systems in 2016, not only was it the first such program in Missouri, but it also established the University as a leader for the demand anticipated for graduates skilled in this next-generation technology.
